French tourist arrivals to Egypt see significant growth, says Sherif Fathy

Egypt is stepping up efforts to attract more French visitors after recording significant growth in arrivals from France, with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities holding talks with leading French tour operators, travel agencies, and aviation companies to expand cooperation and diversify travel programmes.

Sherif Fathy, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Egypt, said the French market continues to show strong growth, with visitors increasingly exploring destinations beyond the traditional Nile cities of Luxor and Aswan. He noted that the Red Sea coast is attracting growing interest, reflecting demand for a wider range of tourism experiences.

During meetings with executives from DERTOUR, Club Med, Air Masters, and Travel Evasion, discussions focused on expanding French tourism to emerging destinations, particularly Egypt’s North Coast, while increasing visitor numbers across the country’s tourism portfolio.

The ministry also aims to promote integrated itineraries combining experiences such as beach holidays with cultural tourism, or eco-tourism with seaside vacations, to showcase the diversity of Egypt’s tourism offering.

The meetings concluded with an agreement to strengthen cooperation between the Egyptian Tourism Authority and major French tour operators through joint promotional campaigns designed to drive further growth in arrivals from France. Progress will be reviewed through regular follow-up meetings, with the next scheduled during the IFTM Top Resa travel trade fair.

Representatives of the French companies welcomed the continued development of Egypt’s tourism sector and reaffirmed confidence in the destination. Club Med also expressed its intention to resume investment and operations in Egypt.
