Mapping the new travel pattern

cover-2-jun

As global travel patterns continue to evolve, the GCC market is adapting to a new era of travel demand. TravTalk speaks to experts to explore how traveller expectations, behaviours, and booking patterns are defining the industry’s future.

Makhdoom Fahim Jalali, CEO (ATTA), Al Naboodah Travel & Tourism
Japan, Thailand, Switzerland, and the Maldives are seeing strong demand, while Europe remains popular for summer travel. Travellers are booking closer to departure and increasingly requesting flexible cancellation and amendment policies. We see higher demand for travel insurance.

Mohd Faharuddin Hatmin Director, Tourism Malaysia Dubai
We are observing a softer travel demand from the Middle East as travellers adopt a more cautious approach due to the current regional situation. Despite this, Malaysia remains an attractive option, and we are strengthening tactical summer campaigns with key partners to stimulate demand.

Carlos Ruiz González, Director, Turespaña
We are seeing a meaningful shift in travel patterns from the GCC region. Travellers from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Kuwait are increasingly looking towards safe, culturally rich, and easily accessible destinations, and Spain is firmly on that radar. We have rolled out a series of targeted summer campaigns designed for the GCC travellers.

Saleem Sharif, Chief Executive Officer, ATS Travel
Demand towards Southeast Asia and the CIS markets has increased, driven by shorter flight durations, competitive pricing, and perceived stability. While Europe continues to remain aspirational and relatively resilient, Schengen visa appointment delays and processing challenges are still impacting travel decisions and limiting bookings.

Dinkar Dasaur, General Manager UAE, Satguru Travel
We have seen demand from the UAE towards mix of Europe, Southeast Asia, and CIS destinations. Europe is still popular for premium summer holidays and family travel, while Thailand and Bali are gaining strong interest for value. At the same time, CIS destinations, such as Georgia, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan see marked growth.

Yamina Sofo, Director – Marketing & Sales Office, GNTO GCC
GNTO has been in close touch with key travel partners across the GCC, and their feedback suggests demand remains active, but travellers are planning more carefully; prioritising reassurance, flexibility, and clear information. Germany finds GCC favour due to a wide range of experiences, moments of exclusivity, and strong connectivity.

Mohamed Jassim Al Rais, Executive Director, Al Rais Travel & Shipping Agencies
Demand is currently strongest for Southeast Asia, the GCC, the Indian Ocean, and selected European destinations. Thailand, Malaysia, Bali, the Maldives, and Japan continue to perform well, while traditional European favourites such as Italy, Switzerland, and the UK remain resilient. Recently, travellers have become more selective.

Sapna Aidasani, Director – PR and Marketing, Pluto Travels
Travel demand from Dubai continues to remain strong, particularly for Europe and Far East destinations. Europe continues to see steady demand, with Schengen visa appointment volumes remaining consistent, reflecting continued traveller confidence. Travellers planning Europe holidays are booking in advance.
