Marriott International has signed an agreement with Manarat Al Dheyafah Company for Real Estate to open The Westin Abha in Saudi Arabia’s Asir region by 2031. The project marks Marriott’s first property in the region and supports the Kingdom’s tourism growth under Vision 2030.
Marriott International has announced plans to introduce the Westin brand to Saudi Arabia’s Asir region through the signing of an agreement with Manarat Al Dheyafah Company for Real Estate to develop The Westin Abha.
Scheduled to open in 2031, the hotel will be located in Jabal Thah Valley, offering access to Abha International Airport and the city centre. The property is expected to feature 464 guestrooms, along with villas, chalets and extended-stay apartments, as well as dining venues, wellness facilities, and meeting and event spaces.
The development forms part of Marriott International’s expansion strategy in Saudi Arabia and supports the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 tourism objectives by strengthening hospitality infrastructure in one of its emerging leisure destinations.
Karim Cheltout, Senior Vice President – Development, Middle East & Africa, Marriott International, said: “The signing of The Westin Abha marks another significant milestone in our continued expansion across Saudi Arabia, reinforcing the Kingdom’s strategic importance to Marriott’s long-term growth. Abha’s distinctive climate, natural environment and growing tourism appeal make it a strong fit for Westin’s wellness-driven hospitality philosophy, and we look forward to delivering a hotel that resonates with travellers seeking renewal, balance and connection to nature.”
Designed around Westin’s global wellbeing philosophy, the hotel will offer restorative spaces inspired by Abha’s mountain landscape and temperate climate, catering to both leisure and business travellers.
Mohammed Al Nashwan, Chief Executive Officer, Manarat Al Dheyafah Company for Real Estate, said: “Collaborating with Marriott International to bring the Westin brand to Abha marks a significant step in our journey into hospitality development. This project reflects our commitment to supporting the long-term growth of the Asir Region while delivering a globally recognised hospitality experience that complements Abha’s unique character and natural setting.”
