How has the Middle East market performed for Sun Siyam this year?
The Middle East has been one of our strongest and most consistent source markets this year. We have seen healthy year-on-year growth, driven by strong demand from the UAE and Saudi Arabia in particular. Families, couples, and multi-generational travellers continue to view the Maldives as an accessible luxury destination, and the performance reflects both market confidence and the impact of our ongoing trade partnerships.
Could you share the number of guests generated from the Middle East?
The Middle East remains one of our strongest and most reliable source markets. While I cannot share exact figures at this stage, I can confirm that guests from the GCC currently represent around 8 per cent of our total business. The region consistently sits within our top three feeder markets and has recorded sustained double-digit growth over the past year.
Can you provide a breakdown by GCC countries, specifically from UAE, Dubai, and other emirates?
The UAE is our strongest contributor within the GCC, with Dubai and Abu Dhabi leading in arrivals. At present, the UAE accounts for approximately 5 per cent of our total business. The remaining GCC markets collectively contribute around 3 per cent, with notable momentum from Saudi Arabia, particularly during key holiday periods. We also continue to welcome steady year-round traffic from Qatar, Kuwait, and Bahrain, each playing an important role in supporting overall occupancy across our resorts.
What are your key USPs that attract ME travellers?
Our biggest strengths are 24-hour all-inclusive concept, villa options with private pools, dining options, and genuine Maldivian hospitality. The ease of access from the region, with short flights and convenient connections, adds to the appeal.
What kind of incentives or benefits do you offer to travel agents selling Sun Siyam properties?
The trade community is extremely important to us. We offer competitive commission structures, regular training, trips, and personalised support from our sales teams. We also provide strong tactical offers throughout the year to help agents.
