WTM Spotlight Riyadh targets Saudi MICE growth

WTM Spotlight Riyadh

Saudi Arabia’s rapidly expanding business events sector is set to take centre stage at WTM Spotlight Riyadh, as the Kingdom accelerates investments in venues, hospitality, aviation, and international corporate travel under Vision 2030.

WTM Spotlight Riyadh will debut from 8–10 September at the Riyadh Front Exhibition & Conference Center, bringing together global event planners, convention bureaux, hospitality brands, and Saudi corporate buyers amid growing demand across the Kingdom’s inbound and outbound MICE sectors.

According to Mordor Intelligence, Saudi Arabia’s MICE market is projected to grow at a CAGR of 9.82 per cent through 2031, reaching US$ 5.65 bn. The wider regional MICE industry is forecast by the Saudi Tourism Society to reach US$ 100 bn by 2035, with Saudi Arabia emerging among the Middle East’s leading business events destinations.

Vision 2030 driving business events expansion

The event comes as Saudi Arabia continues investing heavily in tourism and business infrastructure to diversify its economy beyond oil revenues.

Government spending on business event venues reached US$ 1.3 bn across Riyadh and Jeddah in 2023 alone, while millions of square metres of exhibition space, thousands of hotel rooms, and expanded airport capacity are being developed to support rising delegate demand.

The Kingdom is also witnessing a sharp rise in outbound corporate travel and incentive programmes as Saudi companies expand internationally and seek more strategic business engagement opportunities.

Danielle Curtis, Regional Portfolio Director – UAE, RX, said, “Saudi Arabia’s MICE sector is entering a period of extraordinary growth. With market value projected to exceed US$ 5.5 bn by 2031, business events are pivotal in accelerating tourism development, driving demand for premium hotels, and strengthening international partnerships.”

She added, “WTM Spotlight Riyadh provides a focused platform to showcase the Kingdom’s rapidly expanding event infrastructure and connect global planners with on-the-ground stakeholders.”

Saudi outbound MICE demand reshaping market

The event will also focus heavily on Saudi Arabia’s outbound MICE market, which organisers say is shifting beyond traditional incentive travel towards more ROI-driven international programmes focused on employee engagement, partnerships, and business growth.

This evolution is creating opportunities for international destinations, hotels, convention centres, and tourism boards seeking access to Saudi corporate buyers and procurement decision-makers.

Curtis said, “Saudi Arabia’s outbound MICE sector is rapidly evolving, with corporate planners moving beyond traditional incentive travel towards more strategic, ROI-driven international programmes that support business growth and employee engagement.”

She added that WTM Spotlight Riyadh would offer global exhibitors direct access to Saudi Arabia’s growing MICE procurement pipeline and corporate travel decision-makers.

Focus on long-term tourism value

The conference programme will examine how Saudi Arabia can further mature its business events ecosystem while generating long-term tourism and destination value under Vision 2030.

Sessions will also explore what international event organisers and incentive buyers expect from Saudi Arabia’s evolving MICE landscape, particularly as competition intensifies across the regional business events sector.

WTM Spotlight Riyadh is organised by  RX Global, part of RELX, and is positioned as a dedicated platform connecting Saudi Arabia’s tourism ambitions with global travel and events stakeholders.
